Balusters

A baluster is a vertical member, used to fill the open area between the railing and the floor or tread, adding safety, support and stability to the balustrade. A baluster’s profile is often taken from a particular style of architecture or furniture.

All balusters fall into one of the following categories:

Pin Top

Pin top balusters have turned, round tops that are inserted into holes drilled into an unplowed handrail.

Square Top

Square top balusters have a turned portion, leaving a square upper and lower portion. Installation of square top balusters require a plowed handrail.
